Large cities are nice in that they offer a variety of neighborhoods. Smaller towns are going to have a somewhat uniform feel in the types of neighborhoods they hold. Large neighborhoods offers a huge variety. Here are the various types of neighborhoods you can find in just one city.

Historic

Historic neighborhoods are found in any city. They offer character and beauty and are usually well-preserved, older single-family homes. They offer unique architecture are typically appeal to middle-aged couples or aging adults.

Ethnic

Ethnic neighborhoods are usually found downtown in major metros. They are full of old single-family homes and small apartments. Little Italy in Manhattan and Chinatown in San Francisco are examples of these.

Golf

Some families and retirees choose to live in a Minnesota golf course neighborhood. These are typically golf lovers and are looking for an upscale neighborhood with contemporary single-family homes.

Rural Area

Even though this type of neighborhood isn’t as close to most, those that live in the country are still a very important part of the city. Pedestrian neighborhoods are designed to get you walking to where you need to be. Many people avoid using their car and walk or bike to most areas. It’s great for single professionals who like condos and apartments in the city.

Retirement

Retirement areas are typically in great weather cities that offer many social events and activities. Empty nesters and single seniors love these neighborhoods that are typically full of condos and apartments. These are low-maintenance types of places to live with several amenities.  

Active Neighborhoods

These types of neighborhoods are where you’ll find middle-aged adults and seniors. They are designed to keep people outside and being one with nature. They are designed for hiking, fishing and swimming because they are full of luxury cabins and large single-family homes. These are typically in mountainous regions, in the desert or by water in coastal cities.

These are the most common neighborhoods found in larger cities including the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
