Neighborhood Spotlight: Lowry Hill
Found near the downtown Minneapolis area, Lowry Hill is known as one of the luxury neighborhoods within the city. It’s a very desirable neighborhood with plenty of luxury homes found throughout.
Location
Found just to the west of the downtown area, Lowry Hill is found between Interstate 94, Lake of the Isles Parkway, Interstate 394 and Hennepin Avenue. This location is the home to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the Walker Art Center. It’s known as the center for the arts in Minneapolis.
Luxury and Historic Home
Lowry Hill is known as a part of the Calhoun Isles community. This area contains many older colonial, English Tudor, Victorian and Mediterranean style home. Some of the larger homes within Lowry Hill have been converted into condominiums.
Many of the homes within this neighborhood date back to before the 1900s. These large and historic homes are considered very luxurious due to both the location and the actual homes.
Favorite for Young Professionals
The Lowry Hill area is preferred by many youth professionals. They love the tree-lined streets, the large lawns and the fact that the homes actually have space in between them.
Many types of homeowners move to this area because of The Blake School. This school is a private school serving students from Pre-K to 12th grade. The school’s Northrop Campus is found on Kenwood Parkway.
Another reason residents love this neighborhood is the Thomas Lowry Park. This park is also known as “Seven Pools” because of the seven water pools found throughout. The park contains brick paths and many decorative paintings.
Overall, this neighborhood is known for the large, luxurious home. However, the average home value in the area is just over $230,000, which makes it an affordable neighborhood. This is higher than the average for the city, county and the country.
