Carrie Mesrobian also wrote the book “Sex & Violence.” She is well known for her raw language and this book is no different. It’s recommended for those ages 13 to 18 and won the 2014 Minnesota Book Award for Young People’s Literature. The book is set in a fiction suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul and provides a look at a 17-year-old going through the final year of high school.

“What’s Great about Minnesota?” – Nadia Higgins

You can get this book for less than a fast food lunch. It will show you all the best places in the state to visit from the woods to the lakes. The book even has some history of Minnesota found throughout. Higgins has written about 60 books and many have been for school libraries.

“Modern Spirit: The Art Of George Morrison” – W. Jackson Rushing III and Kristin Makholm

This book covers many of the best abstract landscapes of George Morrison. It was awarded the 2014 The Friends of the Saint Paul Library Minnesota Book Award. The modernist style is very appealing and the authors provided a good look at what Morrison has become well-known for.

“Only the Dead” – Vidar Sundstol

This mystery novel was recently released by the University Press and is the second of a Trilogy by Sundstol. It provides a setting on Lake Superior and includes plenty of amazing story lines. The first book in the series won a Riverton Prize and the third book is expected out in April of 2015.
