Nokomis is a community located at the southern edge of Minneapolis city limits. It contains 11 neighborhoods within the community. Along with these neighborhoods you will find biking paths, parks, a lake and shopping. Most homes were built between the 1920’s to the 1960s and are in a Colonial style. Neighborhoods

Nokomis is located south of Powderhorn. It’s bordered by Interstate 35W on the west, 42nd Street to the north, Highway 62 to the south and Hiawatha Avenue to the east.

The neighborhoods that make up Nokomis include:

• Minnehaha
• Morris Park

These 11 neighborhoods contain single-family homes from the 20s through the 60s. Most are two-story Colonial homes that were built with brick, stone and stucco. The average home value is $201,500. You’ll find all ages living here but the median age is 39.7 with a slightly higher percentage of females. The population for this area is 24,963.

Amenities

This beautiful community has excellent amenities. You can enjoy great scenery as well as entertainment.

People like to live in this area for the parks, lakes and paths. This area offers a 12.6-mile portion of the Grand Rounds National Scenic Bikeway. There are plenty of walking and biking paths around the Minnehaha Creek. For golf lovers, there is a golfing available at Lake Hiawatha Golf Course. In addition, many people spend their time at Minnehaha Falls, Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha Creek’s recreational areas.

One of the best perks to living in Nokomis is that it’s home to one of only three sailing lakes in the city. The lake includes a beach and public boat launch.

For entertainment, there are plenty of retail stores available. Along with shopping, there are many restaurants and cafes located in the Chicago Avenue business center and the Nokomis Village at 34th Avenue and 50th Street. Al Vento is a popular restaurant choice, as are the restaurants and theater offered at Chicago Avenue and 48th Street.
