Visiting the Museum

When you visit the Museum of Russian Art, you will first notice the beautifully renovated historic building it sits in. They offer a multi-level gallery in an intimate and peaceful setting to enjoy their exhibits and educational events. You’ll experience history over 1,000 years of Russian history upon touring the museum.

You can take docent-led tours every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The tours last one hour or you can also try private tours for your group upon request. There is a Taste of Russia Culinary Tour available where you can experience art by learning about forest foods that feed social and cultural life in this country, be guided through cookbooks and understand more about how Russians cook their native cuisine.

Check out current exhibits like “Winter Holidays in the Soviet Era” and “Life on the Edge of the Forest: Russian Traditions in Wood.” You’ll learn about winter holiday traditions and see 700 holiday ornaments at the Winter Holidays exhibit while you’ll learn about Russian woodworking and forests as sustainable ecosystems in the Russian Traditions exhibit.

Admission

The museum is available all week except major holidays. They are open Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sunday from 1pm-5pm. It costs $9 for admission tickets for adults with discounts for students, children and seniors. The museum is located at 5500 Stevens Avenue South in Minneapolis. You can park at the southwest corner of I-35W and Diamond Lake Road.
