Brett Schimke never had an interest in being a stereotypical salesperson. He’s never been a fan of the cliché selling techniques that come with the process of working with someone on a purchase or sale. It was the frustration of working with sales people who see you as a number versus a person, combined with the love for a property’s potential, that made Brett want to become a real estate agent.
Brett was raised on a farm in a small Minnesota town north of the cities. Helping out with projects and daily tasks is where he learned what it means to have a strong work ethic. It helped him acquire skills that would make him a competent DIYer and even work for his brother’s General Contracting company for some time. But Brett’s passion has always been music. He received bachelor degrees in both Audio Engineering and Music Composition from a private music college, has been a drummer in multiple bands, played trumpet in the U of M marching band, and currently plays keyboard in a local 10-piece cover band. After graduation, he moved across state lines to Wisconsin for two years so that his wife complete her Master’s degree. While there, Brett helped a successful entrepreneur build a recording studio from the ground up and was the studio’s head engineer. After moving back to Minnesota, Brett focused on the technical side of audio, working as a residential A/V installer and eventually a commercial A/V engineer. He, his wife, and his son have settled down in Stillwater and his family means the world to him.
Brett has always been a “picky” person and knows first-hand how the little things are just as important as the big things while shopping for your next home. Finding exactly what you want, or realizing a vision to make something exactly what you want, is hard to do. A good agent makes this process easy for their clients. Taking the stress and uncomfortable feelings out of the process rather than mastering sales tactics has a much more positive affect on people, and that’s what his goal is with each person Brett meets.
