Few other areas in the state, let alone the country, offer a park specifically designated to children. Here in Blaine, Lochness Park is just that. This 90-acre park is designated by the Minnesota DNR and offers kid-friendly activities and education. The Minnesota DNR believes that the youth are the positive future of natural resources. Due to this belief, the organization worked hard to ensure local children had an area they could call their own and learn to appreciate.
This massive kid-friendly park offers over two miles of hiking, in addition to a 9-hole disc golf course. The largest program offered at Lochness Park is the Fishing in the Neighborhood (“FiN”) ponds, which are ideal for novices who are just learning the basics of fishing. Species found in these ponds include Bluegill, Black Crappie, Northern Pike, and Bullhead. Lochness Park can be accessed via Lexington Avenue if coming from the south and Hupp Street if coming from the north. People have access to port-a-potties at the entrance of the park.
